A house in Duluth was saved from potential major damage Friday morning, thanks to the help of multiple Northland fire crews and the 148th Air Guard.
According to the Duluth Fire Department, crews responded at 3:55 a.m. To a report of a structure fire at 302 Thurber Road. A DPD officer arrived to find a garage fully engulfed, with flames quickly moving toward the house.
The department says there were no hydrants in the vicinity, so a call was made to Rice Lake Fire Department, the 148th Air Guard, Lakewood Fire Department and Hermantown Fire Department. The call for help was answered quickly.
The garage, cars inside, and all contents inside are considered a total loss and the home suffered some smoke and slight water damage. However, Duluth authorities say the outcome of the fire would have been had there not been help from the other departments and the guard.
