Authorities responded to a fully engulfed structure fire on Comstock Lake Road in Cotton, MN, shortly after 12:00 pm on Sunday. According to officials, before the authorities arrived to the fire, a second call came in to a nearby address on the same road stating that the male who had allegedly started the structure fire was having a verbal argument with his parents. When the first Deputy arrived, the 44-year-old male suspect allegedly assaulted the Deputy, which lead to the attacker being pepper sprayed and tased. The male was transported to Virginia Regional Medical Center and then was booked into the Virginia Jail for Felony Assault on a Peace Officer and Arson in the First Degree, according to authorities. The Deputy was treated at VRMC for injuries sustained during the assault and released. The incident is currently under investigation.
