A St. Paul man charged with first-degree arson in connection to a house fire that caused $10,000 worth of damage entered an amended guilty plea Thursday in Ramsey County, court records show. Jordan Joseph Babou, 21, originally pleaded not guilty in June, but changed his plea Thursday as a result of a plea agreement. A sentencing date has not yet been set. According to the criminal complaint, the St. Paul Fire Department was called on April 8 to the 1100 block of Case Avenue on reports of a basement fire. Investigators located an extremely charred chair in the basement. The complaint said investigators could not find an ignition source, which later led them to conclude the fire was caused intentionally.
