The Crosslake City Council conducted a special meeting on Friday morning, Sept. 21, to discussion the purchase of the old fire hall adjacent to City Hall, but no decision was made on the building's purchase.
Both police chief Erik Lee and fire chief Chip Lohmiller said the building was of little to no value to their respective departments, but some - including council member Dave Nevin - saw the opportunity to purchase more than five acres of land adjacent to city hall as one too good to pass up. Nevin also suggested the city could use the property as a temporary office while city hall is rebuilt or remodeled, then could be sold by the city.
Ultimately, a motion was made to direct Nevin to ask Hy-Tec Construction to look at the buildings to determine if they could be remodeled for use as city hall and the police department.
