Senate candidate Jim Newberger was in Duluth on Friday to meet with the Duluth Fire Department's Emergency Response Team. Newberger talked with the fire chief about how he could help with funding the ERT, along with what they will need in the future. The response team has had funding for a few years now, and Newberger believes it is vital to continue training all the other response teams in the Arrowhead. "We've had funding for this for 4 years, the funding will run out in 2019. And we really need to push, and to fight to make sure the funding stays in place for this ERT," said Newberger. Newberger also said he wants to take away the worry about whether funding will be available year after year, by making it permanent. Newberger is running against incumbent senator and democrat Amy Klobuchar.
