The Ramsey Fire Department is putting on a fundraiser for one of its own who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Andover Pizza Ranch, firefighters will serve and bus tables while 10 percent of sales in the dining room, deliveries and carryout will go to Assistant Chief Bart Hayft. In addition, guests can put tips into a firefighter’s boot, and 100 percent of tips to “fill the boot” will go to Hayft. A raffle will be held for a TV and a hand-painted mailbox as well. Hayft was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2016, starting chemotherapy that December to shrink the cancer before a February 2017 surgery when his stomach and dozens of lymph nodes were removed, according to written statements from Fire Chief Matt Kohner.
