The Kansas City Fire Department rescued stranded boaters on the Missouri River Monday evening. KCFD said the call came in just after 6 p.m. A boater called 911 and said their motor quit and they were floating down the Missouri River with no control over the vessel. The boat was able to make its way to the south bank just west of the Broadway bridge, where two rescue boats and crews made their way to the stranded individuals. The fire department said the high river and excessive debris from the weekend storms made it a dangerous operation. The boat and its passengers were safely rescued back to the Kaw Point boat ramp. KCFD said no injuries were reported.
