Authorities say a fifth wheeler being used as a residence, several vehicles and some out buildings were lost to the fast moving Colorado Gulch fire which threatened homes after breaking out in the Grant Creek area on Monday evening. Missoula County Sheriff TJ McDermott says that all residents have been accounted for and no injures have been reported as a result of the blaze which was sparked by a fallen power line. Deputies and fire personnel are continuing to man a roadblock at Colorado Gulch Road, but Grant Creek Road was reopened to traffic early Tuesday morning. Approximately 20 to 25 homes were evacuated Monday evening in the Colorado Gulch area with the Sheriff's Office saying that the winds, fire movement and location of the homes made it extremely difficult for emergency personnel to do some of the notifications. Deputies and fire personnel swept the area to make sure all residents are accounted for as crews on the ground and in the air worked to stop the spread of the 10 to 12 acre wildfire.
