Officials with Great Falls Fire Rescue says that it appears somebody lit a fire in a wood stove in the basement but the chimney had a crack. Firefighters are monitoring the crack and ventilating the smoke out of there. The crack in the chimney allowed smoke into the building but nothing caught on fire. They’re checking for hot spots and embers now.
