Sunday marked the one year anniversary of the start of the Lolo Peak fire.
The lightning-sparked blaze was first spotted on July 15, 2017 and continued burning for months.
The blaze burned just under 54,000 acres and took the life of firefighter Brent Witham.
Over 3,000 people were evacuated at some point during the Lolo Peak Fire and some structures burned to the ground.
Months after the last flames went out, a salvage logging project continues near McClain Creek to rehabilitate the woods and help fund Montana’s schools.
