Firefighters from four Bitterroot rural departments battled a structure fire north east of Corvallis Thursday afternoon and evening. A shop on Basil Lane burned to the ground. Corvallis Assistant Fire Chief Don Hall said the building was a total loss, but there were no injuries. Hall said the fire was started by an over heated generator. He said the owner was home at the time but could not stop it. Smoke from the fire could be seen from miles away. Sheriff's deputies restricted traffic from the area. But fire trucks could be seen traveling back and forth. They said because the fire was at the end of a long driveway it was hard to get water to. Scott Hughes is a neighbor who came home from work and saw the smoke.
