Valley County Students Get Creative for Wildfire Awareness

In celebration of Wildfire Awareness Month, Keep Montana Green (KMG) will be showcasing students’ artwork throughout the months of May and June. In Glasgow, art work from Poplar, Malta, Saco and Frazer students are being showcased at The Glasgow Courier, wihle art work from Wolf Point students are being displayed at D&G Sports and Western. The goal of the art contest is to promote awareness on how human-caused wildfires can be persented, as 60 percent of Montana’s wildfire are human-caused. The contest theme this year was “Prepare, Protect, and Prevent.” This year marks KMG’s 57th art contest, in which schools from across the state participated. The art entries are first judged regionally, where first, second and third are decided. Then, those entries are sent to Missoula, Mont., to be judged with winners from all six regions. The state winners receive ribbons, cash prizes and statewide recognition.
