Officials closed part of Grand Avenue on Billings' far West End Wednesday evening while firefighters from two agencies tried to extinguish a fire that burned down a home. The Billings Fire Department responded to the area of 77th Street West and Alderson Avenue after a call for mutual aid by the Molt Volunteer Fire Department in response to a vehicle fire, grass fire, fence fire and house fire in the area, said BFD Battalion Chief Ed Regele. Molt Volunteer firefighters believed the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, Regele said. The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office and Montana Highway Patrol blocked Grand Avenue from Homewood Park Drive to 77th Street West while firefighters worked. The home where the fire occurred is located on land between Alderson Avenue and Grand Avenue.
