Emergency crews rescued a man after he fell into an abandoned well while walking near Market Street Tuesday afternoon. According to David Hines, spokesperson for the Wilmington Fire Department, crews responded to the 2600 block of Guilford Avenue, near Market Street, around 1 p.m. Hines said a man was walking on some grass when he fell 6-8 feet into an abandoned well. Firefighters pulled the man out and EMS crews treated him at the scene for non-life threatening injuries. Hines said crews temporarily set up a traffic detour on Market Street while firefighters worked to free the man.
