A teenage girl was rescued after her car was submerged in high waters in Waxhaw Thursday. The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. in Harvey C. Nesbit Park. Officials said that a 16-year-old girl was rescued from the vehicle. Her name has not been released. Waxhaw police said that the girl was driving on Mill Bridge Road – a dirt, construction road they say always floods during heavy rains – when water enveloped her car. They said the road is not supposed to be used anymore, and that the girl drove three and a half feet into the water before trying to turn around and her car died. The girl then had to climb onto her roof and call for help. Firefighters responded and rescued the girl in about 10 minutes. Officials said she is okay. From WBTV’s Sky 3 a single white sedan could be seen in the center of what appeared to be a creek with high water. The vehicle was submerged almost all the way to the windows.
