Fire damaged a Kannapolis business on Saturday. At around 1:15 pm on Saturday, Kannapolis firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at RL Raffaldt’s Inc., a sand and gravel company located on the city’s south side.
Kannapolis Engine 41 arrived first to find smoke and flames coming from a small office located on the multi-building complex, according to fire officials. A quick attack on the flames resulted in a knockdown on the bulk of the fire, preventing the spread into the adjoining buildings.
“We realized upon arrival that the office building was fully involved, therefore our priority became protecting the much larger buildings adjacent to the fire.” stated Captain Chris Morris.
The Concord Fire Department assisted at the fire while Cabarrus County EMS assisted on scene with medical monitoring of fire personnel. No injuries were reported.
At this time, the Kannapolis Fire Risk Deduction Division is continuing the investigation. Damage is estimated at around $20,000.
