A family of seven children and two adults will have to find a new home after fire rendered their mobile home a total loss. The fire started at around noon on Montego Lane in Salisbury, just off Long Branch Road in western Rowan County. The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Chief Rusty Alexander of the Locke Fire Department said that the flames had spread quickly through the ceiling and the roof. Firefighters from Locke, Salisbury, West Rowan, Franklin, and Cleveland all responded according to Chief Alexander, along with the Rowan Rescue Squad, the Rowan Fire Marshal's Office, and Rowan EMS. There were no injures. Raul Arbelaez, well known locally for his work with Toys For Tots through the US Marines, lives nearby and was able to find new toys to give to some of the young children. The Red Cross is also helping the family.
