The Harrells Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for a mini tractor pull this Saturday, another way of entertaining the masses and raising a little money to protect residents of southern Sampson County.
“We have one in the spring and one in the fall that coincides with Harrells Community Day,” said Danny Carter, one of nearly 50 volunteer member of the Harrells Fire Department. “This is like our big tractor pull, just on a smaller scale.”
The Harrells VFD Mini Tractor Pull will start at 1 p.m. this Saturday, April 30, at the Harrells Volunteer Fire Department on N.C. 41 in Harrells. The event is expected to extend into the early evening with a lot of fun for the entire family, Carter said. He encouraged young and old alike to come out to view the pull, which is free to the public. Concessions, including hot dogs and other refreshments, will be available for purchase.
“This is a sport that has been around for a while and can be enjoyed by men, women and children,” said Carter, a reigning champion in the mini pull. “There will even be mini tractors available for children and adults to give pulling a try at $10 per hook up.”
All proceeds will benefit the Harrells Volunteer Fire Department.
“This will help us purchase safety equipment,” Carter noted.
