Fire burned up track equipment and a metal roofed shed near a practice field at Salisbury High School on Monday afternoon. The relatively small fire created a lot of interest in the area for the thick plume of black smoke seen billowing from the area just off S. West Street near W. Thomas Street. Several track mats were burned in the fire. The Salisbury Fire Department responded quickly and extinguished the flames. One neighbor whose home was directly beside the practice field said he was thankful that firefighters were able to put the fire out so quickly and keep it from spreading. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
