Greenville firefighters went through fire suppression training Tuesday morning, using "The Bullex Attack System."
It's a digital program that creates realistic fire conditions so crews can practice taking down structure fires in locations where live-fire isn't possible or permitted.
The system consists of a digital screen that simulates fire and produces real smoke.
While the system can't simulate heat, it does force firefighters to focus on their techniques.
Lt. Jesse Harris says, "It reinforces good hose stream practices. The system can be adjusted to different types of fires, class a, b, and c. With each type of fire having different characteristics and responding differently to water and how it's applied."
The department used the system for free but is considering purchasing one at a later date.
The department would also maintain it's live burn training tower.
Greenville Fire-Rescue says this is the first time crews have trained through this system.
