The family of a fallen Pineville volunteer firefighter has even more reason to be thankful for the brotherhood. After a recent family trip to Colorado, Brian Sheltra said his daughter, Christina, misplaced her phone with pictures from the past year including ones with her brother Richard, who died in the line of duty this April. “For her, it was less about the phone and what was on it. We knew to her that the pictures was going to be a big, big loss,” said Brian Sheltra. Once they realized the phone was missing, Sheltra used the “Find My iPhone” app to figure out where it might be. Somehow the phone ended up in Dumas, Texas. Sheltra reached out to the local fire and police departments and within hours, they had the phone. “Just to know that someone halfway across the country would do something for a stranger. You know we've all gotten phone calls from strangers, people we don't know, and they were just willing to do whatever they could, they never really questioned me about the story,” said Sheltra. It’s a brotherhood that has embraced the Sheltra family since Richard's passing.
