The estate of Mary Cochran has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Marshall Doran, two years to the day after he intentionally set a series of fires in Carolina Beach in 2014 that resulted in Cochran's death. His parents, Peter and Cynthia Doran are also named as defendants in the suit. Doran, 24, is currently serving two consecutive terms of life in prison after pleading guilty to two counts each of first-degree murder and first-degree arson on Aug. 4. He was accused of setting three fires on Dec. 6, 2014, one of which killed Cochran and another woman, Darlene Maslar. More than 30 other charges against Doran were dismissed as a result of the pleas.
