An unattended space heater caused a fire that damaged a Fayetteville home on Sunday, leaving an adult and two children with no place to live, officials say
Fire crews responded at 2:28 p.m. Sunday to a structure fire in the 4700 block of Belford Road off Glensford Drive in the Montclair neighborhood of Fayetteville.
First arriving units reported heavy smoke from a single story, single family wood frame dwelling.
“Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the hallway and rear rooms of the dwelling. The occupant was not at home when the blaze occurred but arrived shortly after the fire departments arrival,” said Fayetteville Assistant Fire Chief R. Bradshaw.
The American Red Cross is helping one adult and two children who were displaced by the fire. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire was determined to be an unattended space heater, Bradshaw said.
No damage estimate was provided.
