A Jackson County fireman and his family are starting from scratch after his house burned to the ground on Tuesday.
As the investigation into the cause is underway after the fire at Terry McCall's home in the Little Canada community.
McCall is the Assistant Fire Chief at the Canada Fire Department.
He heard the page go out for a fire on his road and then a neighbor called, confirming it was his home on fire.
"I had to get out of the truck," McCall said. "I got sick to my stomach."
McCall lived off Old Mill Road with five family members, including his parents. His brother and niece are also members of the fire department.
No one was home at the time. "Take a breath and say, 'Well, thank the Lord that nobody was in the home,'" he said.
No one was hurt, but two dogs died.
McCall says his family lost everything, but is grateful to the community for their help.
