The Asheville Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire Thursday in the River Arts District.
Residents in a home on Toxaway Street were evacuated, according to AFD's Twitter account. A dog was also rescued.
"The fire was first noticed in (the) porch and extended into (the) attic," said Kelley Klope, agency spokeswoman. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday.
Once crews extinguished the fire they remained on-scene to treat small hot spots, according to the agency.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m.
At this time it is unknown if injuries were reported.
