Fire departments from four counties responded to a fire at a two-story former hosiery mill now used for storage in Carthage Tuesday morning. The fire started around 7:30 a.m. at 183 Barrett Street. Multiple departments were needed for a water shuttle to the location to supply enough water to fight the flames. It is unconfirmed what was inside the building. Firefighters are still on the scene working to control the fire. Barrett Street in Carthage was closed to traffic Tuesday morning. Investigators have not determined how the fire started, but they confirmed no one was injured.
