A fire injured two residents and damaged an eighth-floor apartment Wednesday night in the Sunrise Towers building at 801 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, authorities said.
One of the injured residents was taken to a local hospital, said Battalion Chief Darryl Sawyer of the Winston-Salem Fire Department. The other injured resident was treated at the scene by Forsyth County emergency medical technicians, residents said.
The fire, which started at 6:47 p.m., was caused by food left unattended on a stove in the apartment’s kitchen, Sawyer said.
