Wrightsville Beach: Pelican Drive fire causes up to $1M in damages

Fire crews extinguished a large structure fire at a residence on Pelican Drive late Monday night. Wrightsville Beach Fire Chief Glen Rogers said Tuesday afternoon that between $500,000 and $1 million worth of damage was done to the home, but no injuries were reported. According to Rogers, no one was in the residence when the fire started and he said the cause and location of the fire's origin are still under investigation. New Hanover County dispatch said personnel from the New Hanover, Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach fire departments were called to the scene minutes before 11 p.m. Monday. Dispatch said at 11:30 that crews were battling the blaze.
