Deputies have charged 16-year-old Lennon Henderson with murder after they found a man dead inside a burning home in Newton over the weekend. The Catawba County Sheriff's Department determined that Wesley Bruner, 40, was killed from a gunshot wound. Investigators believe Henderson knew Bruner and was attempting to rob him. They believe the fire was set to cover up the homicide. The fire broke out Saturday at a home along Business 321, just north of Maiden.
