Insurance issues have rendered Todd Volunteer Fire Department unable to take any calls until further notice, according to media reports.
The Todd Fire Department is a nonprofit, volunteer department located at 11062 N.C. 194 N. in Todd. It served an area located in both Ashe and Watauga counties. Meat Camp, Deep Gap and Ashe County fire departments will be taking calls to cover the Todd Fire District. All of these fire departments were placed on standby by the Ashe County Communication Center, according to Deep Gap Fire Department Public Information Officer Jonathan Hodges.
