The Burke County Fire Marshal’s office is conducting an investigation after a house fire was reported on Poteat Drive on Wednesday. No one was inside the house when it caught fire around 6:30 a.m., but the structure was home to a lot of scattered items. “You name it, it was in there,” Fire Marshal Mike Willis said. But neighbors said multiple people have been inside the house since it was abandoned. Some of those people include workers hired to clean the building for the bank that owns it.
