A four-legged investigator is one of the newest members of the Union County Fire Marshal's Office.
Camden, a 2 and a half year old yellow Labrador Retriever, joined the team as an Accelerant Detection Canine in December 2016.
He is trained to sniff out scents of liquids that arsonists use to start fires such as gasoline and kerosene and to point authorities to the direction with the strongest scent.
Camden started training as a seeing-eye dog at 16 months of age. Though he completed his course, he was not assigned to a blind person due to his curious nature and his tendency to explore trash cans.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms ultimately purchased Camden from the guide dog school, and he began his training as an arson dog in the summer of 2016.
He was paired with Fire Marshal Kevin Rigoli in late October 2016.
