Grace Baptist Church was deemed a total loss after more than 70 firefighters responded to the massive fire over the weekend.
At approximately 5:40 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, the Kannapolis Fire Department was notified of a possible structure fire at the church, located at 1409 East 11th Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found a well-involved fire in the church and flames shooting from the roof. Kannapolis fire department officials said the fire went to three alarms and neighboring departments were brought in to assist. Units from the Salisbury and Concord fire departments assisted in fighting the fire, with a total of 75 firefighters.
