SBI investigators tell members that a fire that destroyed their Martin County church early this morning was not intentionally set. Hattie's Chapel Church on Hassell Road caught fire around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, according to Hamilton Fire Chief Travis Scott. He says his department along with two others were on scene until 5:45 a.m. Scott says the church is a total loss. SBI agents were brought in and finished their investigation late this morning. They told church members the fire started in the music room, possibly caused by something plugged into an electrical outlet. Rev. Alice Roberson, the assistant pastor, told WITN that Wednesday night they had a bible study at the church.
