Former Fletcher firefighter Aaron Lanning, 39, was sentenced to 51 months in prison on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 by Superior Court Judge Mark Powell.
Lanning plead guilty to five counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. This is a crime charged when a person knowingly possesses material containing a visual representation of a minor child engaged in sexual activity.
He will be eligible for release after serving 18 months in a North Carolina prison.
Lanning plead guilty to all five charges. The office of District Attorney Greg Newman said Lanning possessed several sexually explicit images of underage children on his computer at the Fletcher Fire Department.
