Perquimans County High School will use a $10,000 Grow Rural Education grant to purchase a self-contained breathing apparatus and air tanks for the Fire Academy, thanks to local farmers who nominated it.
The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, partnered with farmers across the country to make a difference in their local communities by nominating rural schools for $2.3 million in grants for science, technology, engineering and math education.
Perquimans County High School is just one of the many grant recipients. Examples of additional past winning programs include helping schools build greenhouses, develop robotics programs and create livestock learning laboratories.
