At about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, over 60 Asheville firefighters responded to 165 S. French Broad Ave., Aston Park Towers, for a structure fire. The fire was located on the seventh floor of the 11-story apartment building and was quickly extinguished. A full evacuation of the building took place for safety precautions and residents were sheltered in ART buses. Residents on floors 1-5 and 9-11 were able to return to their apartments later in the evening, while residents on floors 6-9 were displaced. Some of these residents found friends or family to stay with and about 20 residents are being sheltered by the American Red Cross. Thankfully there were no injuries reported to residents or first responders.
