A fire that heavily damaged a home this morning in Craven County is under investigation. Emergency Services Assistant Director Ira Whitford says that crews got the call around 8:21 a.m. to a structure fire at 9805 U.S. 17 in Vanceboro. We're told it took crews around 20 minutes to knock down the fire. No one was home at the time and there were no injuries sustained by firefighters. Whitford says the cause is under investigation, but they do believe the fire started near the front of the house.
