Crews responded to two structures in New Hanover County Saturday night. According to the Wilmington Fire Department's Twitter, the first fire was at a duplex at 336 Sumter Ave. It was fifty percent involved when crews arrived on scene. The fire on Head Road was contained to the kitchen in the home. According to the fire department, firefighters removed a dog from the home unharmed. No one else was in the home at the time. Crews are still investigating the cause of this fire at this time. The fire department said the fire at the duplex on Sumter Ave left extensive damage to both units.
