Firefighters from Charlotte's busiest fire station sat down with the community for a meet and greet on Saturday.
Station 42 on Central Avenue has responded to more than 9,000 emergency calls this budget year. During Saturday’s event, leaders revealed the station's second fire engine, which they say they needed to continue quick response times.
"Statistics have shown that there are such a large volume of calls in the area that a second engine was needed to give service to the citizens in Station 42, in east Charlotte,” firefighter Mark Ballew said.
