The director of the fire department that serves Burlington’s Sister City Soledad, Mexico, shook many hands and gave a few hugs at Burlington Fire Station 6 Thursday, Jan. 11. Adolfo Benavente Duque was there to take possession of a 1995 KME ladder truck that the city of Burlington has donated to the city of Soledad. “If you have a truck that no longer has value as far as our uses, why not give it to our neighbors who can use it?” said Phillip Stewart, vice president of Alamance-Burlington Sister Cities. The director said that his fire department can indeed use it.
