A natural gas line broken at a construction site led the Burlington Fire Department to close Hatchery Road for nearly two and a half hours, Thursday, Jan. 11.
“It was just a construction crew hit a gas line along Hatchery Road, and it took a while to isolate the leak and seal it off,” said Battalion Chief Travis Handy with the Burlington Fire Department.
The department was called to the scene at 11:27 a.m. and Fire Department vehicles closed off Hatchery Road at Alamance Road and Tucker Street. In less than an hour, there were multiple vehicles and a cement truck waiting along Alamance Road.
