The Greenville Fire Department is welcoming the largest group of new firefighters it's ever seen. Following seven months of training, GFR graduated 21 cadets from Pitt Community College Academy 11 on Wednesday. The badge pinning ceremony is a proud moment for the cadets, but one new graduate wanted to share that moment with the woman he says helped him get through 191 days in the academy. What looked like an emergency for the fire rescue cadets quickly turned into something more heartfelt. Imani Safford had just pinned her boyfriend Rodale Pippen with his Greenville Fire Rescue badge when he pretended to faint. But it was just so he could get down on one knee to propose.
