When strong storms moved through central North Carolina on Sunday, a child was shocked when lightning struck near a home in Wilson County. A storm moved through the area before 5 p.m. and hit near a home in the 6600 block of Town Creek Road, the homeowner told CBS 17. The bolt of lightning hit a tree close to the house, which sent electricity into the home, shocking a girl who was on a cellphone, the homeowner said. The girl was checked by EMS, who responded to the scene. The girl was not injured and the home was not damaged. Later in the afternoon when another storm moved through, a roof was nearly blown off a home in Four Oaks. "The people didn't get hurt -- they were in the house, they heard the top go off and ran outside," said Four Oaks Assistant Fire Chief Tim Purvis. "The only one hurt was the woman who owns the house got a bruise on her arm but that's all we found in the yard."
