A house fire at 100 Wilson St., Graham, turned into a drug bust Monday afternoon, June 18. Graham fire and police responded to the structure fire and, upon arrival, found a couple with two small children, ages 1 and 3, waiting outside, police Lt. Duane Flood said. Firefighters entered the building and attempted to determine the origin of the fire, Flood said, but before realizing it was a kitchen fire, they found marijuana growing in the basement. A VICE officer was contacted, and Graham police were working on a search warrant since the owner’s son refused to let police search the house, Flood said. Police are still investigating the case, and no charges had been filed Monday. No one was injured during the fire, Flood said, the damage was very minor, and the fire was mostly smoke. Police do not have an exact amount of how much weed was in the basement but said there was at least two small marijuana plants and a few Tupperware tanks ready to grow more.
