As rain poured down outside, a fire inside a Camden County firehouse heavily damaged several emergency vehicles. Firefighters responded to the fire Thursday night at the South Camden Volunteer Fire Department at 114 Sawyers Creek Road around 9:30 p.m. According to Camden County Manager Ken Bowman, a firefighter who lives nearby spotted smoke, went to the station and saw smoke coming from the building. The fire was brought under control before the building received major damage, but an ambulance and a brush truck inside were destroyed. Photos from the fire show another truck with damage. All engines removed from the building had no reported damage. The building did have heat, smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported and no one was inside the building when the fire started.
