A home is destroyed by fire in the Cedar Mountain Community in Transylvania County. Firefighters responded to 29 Deer Chase Drive shortly after midnight Thursday morning. They say gas logs inside the fireplace caught the walls on fire. The two people living inside the home were not injured. Cedar Mountain fire officials say the house is a total loss and the Red Cross is on the scene assisting the family. This is the second house fire in the Cedar Mountain Community this week. Just two nights ago, a fire ripped through a home on Piedmont Camp Road. Firefighters believe that fire started in the garage before spreading. The cause of that fire remains under investigation. The two fires do not appear to be connected.
