Firefighters rushed to the scene of a northern Iredell County house fire late Saturday night, but officials say there was little they could do to prevent the structure from burning to the ground.
Three people were displaced after the blaze destroyed a single-story trailer in the 100 block of Creeks End Lane, near Union Grove, just before midnight.
“The occupants were home,” said Jeff Styers, chief of the Central Volunteer Fire Department. “They woke up to the smell of smoke. They evacuated and by the time they called it in it was fully involved.”
Styers said the response, which included Union Grove and Wilkes Iredell fire departments, as well as North Iredell Rescue Squad, Iredell EMS and utility crews, was “very quick.”
It took about 90 minutes to control the fire. The trailer was a total loss, Styers said. No injuries were reported.
