Flooding from Hurricane Florence hit many places hard in Duplin County. That includes the North East Volunteer Fire Department. The volunteer fire department saw up to five feet of water enter its building. However, volunteer firemen and others were able to clean up quickly so they could then turn around and help those also hit by flooding and other damage. As soon as the water cleared, fire chief Kenneth Cavenaugh and others quickly worked to get the place in order so a distribution center could open there. Cavenaugh said the distribution center will remain open for at least another month or until the need is no longer there. Click the above video from NewsChannel 12's Christina Thompson to learn more.
