A fire at an apartment complex early Friday morning has displaced five residents and was caused by unattended food on the stove, according to the Winston-Salem Fire Department. Firefighters responded around 1:40 a.m. to the fire in the 3600 block of Yarbrough Avenue near Reynolda Road. The fire, which damaged two units in the four-apartment building, was under control within half an hour, fire officials said. Two occupants received minor smoke inhalation but refused transport to the hospital.
